Subject: Internet Censorship
Ken,
I believe your organization's recent action against Intergate, a Georgia
ISP, as well as other ISPs across the nation, sends the wrong message and
creates a problem with the way you are interpreting the copyright law.
Would your next target not be Yahoo! or Netscape, since they also provide
links to similar information?
Although I do believe your organization is acting in good faith, and
believe that your organization helps our industry stamp out copyright
infringement, however, I do believe that you have overstepped your
boundaries - thus you are now infringing upon the rights that you are
trying to defend.
I urge you to look over your process of protection against Internet
software piracy and your means of enforcing this policy.
I hope that your organization sees the benefit that the internet has
created for both software developers, publishers and end-users - and is not
trying to cradle the new technology by thwarting its existence or
threatening the extinction of those who are improving it.
If you would like to speak with me further about this subject, please feel
free to contact via email at jeff@dresden.com or by phone at (770) 992-8453.
Thanks for your time,
Jeff Haynie
