Fear of the SPA

Is the SPA effective? Seems like it. Just read below. But is what the SPA does legal? Is it right? Should the SPA be stopped?

I started building a web page about what the SPA was doing to ISPs. Well, I got about halfway through building it, and then I realized it was a bit of a stupid idea.

I run a business. I have much software. I only use and sell legal copies of software.

SPA could go to a judge and say "since this guy is running a web page denouncing us, he must be a pirate", and thus get whatever legal authority it takes to come to my place of business, raid my sorry ass, and confiscate my equipment as 'evidence' in the civil proceedings against me relating to my failure to register my shareware copy of Chopper Commando that I got five years ago.

Stranger things happen, hell, the CoS does it all the time.

So I decided no page. I like to fight against evil, but I'm not in the mood, or financial condition, to get my ass kicked by evil right now.

I'm scared of the SPA. I've heard about them for years. Their web site tells of how the SPA, not being a police agency, nevertheless raids businesses and seizes equipment. I'm afraid to speak out against them. I run a small business. I'd not be able to recover from having my equipment taken from me so that the SPA could 'search' for pirated software or legal cracker utilities.
